Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about buying and selling on The Gun Market.
Do I need a firearms licence to list on The Gun Market?
Yes. All sellers must hold a valid Australian firearms licence appropriate for the firearm being sold. You will be required to declare this when creating a listing.
How does the transfer process work?
All firearm transfers must be completed through a licensed firearms dealer. The buyer and seller agree on a dealer, and the paperwork is handled through that dealer in accordance with state laws.
Is The Gun Market available in all Australian states?
Yes. We support listings from all Australian states and territories — NSW, VIC, QLD, WA, SA, TAS, ACT, and NT. Note that state laws vary, so always check your local regulations.
How long does listing approval take?
Listings are typically reviewed and approved within 1–2 hours during business hours. You will be able to view your listing immediately after submission, but it won't be visible to the public until approved.
Is it free to list?
Private sellers can post listings for free during our launch period. Licensed dealers can access premium features through a dealer subscription.
How do I contact a seller?
Once you have an account, you can send an enquiry directly through the listing page. The seller will receive your message and respond via the platform.
Can dealers list multiple items?
Yes. Licensed dealers can create a dealer profile and manage unlimited inventory. Contact us to learn about dealer subscription plans.
What items are not allowed on the platform?
Any items that are prohibited under Australian law, including automatic weapons, items without proper licensing, and any accessories that are state-restricted. Our moderation team reviews all listings before they go live.
